11 June 2008 - 3:00The Auto Auction of the Future

First off, let me introduce myself.  My name is Kevin Fleming and I’m the vice president of FOS AUTO.   Titles don’t really mean much over here though - we all pretty much do whatever is needed to be done, that’s the life of a start up I suppose.

Today I want to share with you our vision for FOS AUTO.  We are dedicated to building the best auto auction on the internet.  Online auctions in general current have a lot of room for improvement, and with more cars sitting on the ground at dealerships then ever we felt that this was the right time to build something to truly revolutionize the way that cars are sold.

Right now we are in a value driven economy, which means that money is tight and consumers are looking to get the most bang for their buck.   If you walk into a Neiman Marcus these days there are more sales people in the store than customers.   If you then drive down the street to Target,  you’ll probably have trouble finding a parking spot because its so packed.  People are looking for “the deal” on everything they buy these days including automobiles.

We envisioned FOS AUTO as an online outlet store for vehicles, a place where people know they are going to get a great deal and have an enjoyable customer experience at the same time.  We want anyone and everyone to be able to use FOS AUTO.

When developing the system we made sure to make it easy enough that even someone who never bought anything online before could use it without any frustration or confusion. While optimizing it however we didn’t want to “dumb down” the auction process.  Instead we tried streamline the process and that in essence makes it easier to understand for everyone without having to sacrifice features and usability.

We are very exciting about the approaching launch of the site and I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback on what we’ve built so far.
